Kathryn Verner is a State of Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor, providing care for adults, couples, children and teens. She specializes in individual and couples counseling, marriage and family therapy, parenting and relationship issues, anxiety and stress. Ms. Verner helps identify unwanted patterns of behavior and barriers to living a peaceful and fulfilling life. She offers innovative techniques and guidance to help people find ways to enhance quality of life, improve coping abilities, and experience a deeper connection with themselves and others. Ms. Verner provides a compassionate and encouraging environment that is calm, safe and relaxing to allow clients to explore challenging issues. Michelle May is a Master's Degree therapist, a State of Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a Certified EMDR Therapist.  Her approach is holistic and integrative, utilizing a variety of cognitive, behavioral, and experiential techniques. Ms. May is skilled in establishing a trusting and supportive relationship with her clients. She works with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. Areas of specialization include trauma, codependency, relationships, social skills, anxiety, depression, addiction and recovery, and grief and loss.

Cheryl Checkers

Cheryl Checkershas a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology, with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling. She received a post graduate certification from UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and is a Certified PEERS© Therapist. Cheryl works with adolescents, adults and families. Her experience includes counseling individuals with anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, anger management, and she specializes in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She works from a collaborative holistic approach, blending cognitive and behavioral techniques tailored to meet the individual needs of each client. Cheryl strives to provide the tools and support necessary for individuals to overcome challenges and lead a more fulfilling life.

Ms. Checkers worked as Clinical Director for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and as a Clinician and Instructor for FAU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities. She has extensive training and experience working with individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, and their families. In addition, Cheryl offers support in the areas of intensive resource and transition planning, life and relationship skill building and parent and family education and support.

Shayna Sexton earned her Master’s and Specialist Degrees from the University of Florida in Mental Health Counseling and School Guidance and Counseling. She also holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology. She is National Certified Counselor and a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. Shayna takes on a humanistic, experiential, and collaborative approach to counseling. She tailors her techniques and strategies to each person's unique developmental needs, strengths, and goals. She also incorporates cognitive-behavioral strategies, play therapy, art therapy and Gestalt counseling techniques in her sessions. Her areas of expertise include working with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, anger management, life changes/transitions, adoption/foster care, self-esteem, coping skills, social skills, motivation, study skills, and academic issues. She works with children, adolescents, adults, parents, and couples through individual, group and family therapy.

Javier Verdin

Javier Verdin received his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology and Sociology from Palm Beach Atlantic University. Javier’s therapeutic method combines the Cognitive Behavioral Approach, Solution-Focused Approach, and other tools and modalities respective to the needs of the person. His experience includes child and teen counseling, adult and couples counseling, and group therapy. His background includes working with individuals experiencing anxiety and depression, grief and loss, anger, addiction, trauma, and post-traumatic stress. Javier also has experience working with marriage and family issues such as communication conflict, divorce, infidelity, co-dependency, and domestic violence. Javier also offers faith-based counseling. He is truly passionate about helping individuals struggling with life issues achieve long-lasting health and stability. Javier is a Certified Personal Trainer and utilizes both the mental and physical aspects of the individual to achieve their goals.

Rebecca Verdin, M.S.

Bekki Verdin earned her Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University and is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern for the state of Florida. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development from Milligan College. Bekki believes therapy is a collaborative effort between the client and the counselor. She works together with the client to discover the source for their struggles and helps them find solutions with a personalized, effective plan. Her experience includes working with individuals that deal with anxiety, depression, co-dependency, marital issues, grief and loss, and adjustment issues. She works with children adolescents, adults, and couples. For younger clients, Bekki specializes in dealing with adjustment disorders, mood disorders, and behavioral issues. She uses a variety of methods in her sessions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, play therapy, art therapy, and other tools and modalities respective to the client's need. Topics shes addresses specifically with children and teens are relationships, stress, bullying, divorce, time management, anger, depression, anxiety, and life transitions.

Tara Frey, M.S.

Tara Frey received her Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. She works with diverse adult populations, adolescents, and children, providing individual, family and group therapy.  Ms. Frey blends a solution focused and cognitive behavioral approach to help her client's overcome unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, to achieve personal goals.  Tara employs active listening techniques from a client-centered approach with all clients, and with younger clients, she will incorporate art, play and mindfulness techniques.

During her education she worked with children displaying symptoms consistent with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and participated in research involving early childhood development, and parenting strategies, published in the Journal of Early Education and Development. She has also worked with 211 (Community Helpline and Crisis Hotline), and the National Suicide Hotline.
